Water disruptions hit Joburg, Pretoria and Ekurhuleni from TODAY (30 June)

Rand Water begins phase two of its major infrastructure maintenance today (30 June) until 18 July 2025.

Pumping capacity will be reduced at the Eikenhof, Zwartkopjes and Palmiet systems, affecting large parts of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane.

• Eikenhof System – 30 June to 2 July 2025, pumping will be reduced by 600ml/day
• Zwartkopjes System – 30 June to 2 July 2025, no pumping for the duration of the maintenance work
• Palmiet System – 15 to 18 July 2025, pumping will be reduced to 1,200ml/day

“The maintenance work has been strategically scheduled during the low consumption months of May to July 2025 to minimise disruptions and better manage the potential impact on water supply,” says Rand Water.
