Ilitha Labantu concerned about case against CT teacher accused of sexually grooming pupil

JOHANNESBURG - Civil society organisation, Ilitha Labantu, said that it was deeply concerned about a court case involving a teacher accused of sexually grooming a grade seven pupil.
The 35-year-old woman, who cannot be named due to the nature of the case, made a brief appearance in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
She faces a charge of sexual grooming after allegedly sending explicit messages and a video to a 13-year-old primary school pupil in June.

Ilitha Labantu said it would be closely monitoring a court case involving a Mitchells Plain teacher accused of sexually grooming a 13-year-old primary school boy.
Spokesperson for the organisation Siyabulela Monakali said that the case was a matter of concern.
"These allegations are deeply disturbing and as an organisation, we are closely monitoring the case and have been assisting where necessary to ensure that justice is served."
Due to the presiding magistrate being ill, closing arguments for the hearing are set to proceed later this week.
