WATCH: Brawl erupts mid-flight after passenger allegedly provokes another into violent outburst

Videos of a violent altercation aboard a Frontier Airlines flight as it was arriving at Miami International Airport are going viral.

The incident, which occurred just before landing, involved 21-year-old Ishann Sharma of New Jersey.

According to police reports, Sharma allegedly grabbed another passenger by the neck as the man was returning to his seat.

Video footage shows Sharma and a man in a grey sweatshirt with dreadlocks engaged in a fistfight in a row of seats. Passengers were heard yelling 'stop' in a bid to end the fight between the two.

Witnesses say the man seated behind Sharma had been making negative remarks about him.

Sharma’s attorney, Renee Gordon, claimed the conflict escalated after someone took issue with Sharma meditating during the flight.

He sustained a cut above his left eyebrow during the altercation, while the other passenger suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

Sharma was arrested on Tuesday and charged with battery, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office. At his hearing, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Gerald Hubbart set the bond at $500. The judge also issued a no-contact order and barred Sharma from coming within 500 feet of the victim’s school or workplace.

Online commentary agreed that Sharma's use of physical violence warranted arrest; others questioned whether the other passenger, allegedly the verbal instigator, would face any consequences.

“What was said? They definitely did the right thing, arresting the guy who got physical, BUT I hope they went after the other dude if he was being verbally abusive. He reacted to the abuse — so what about the instigator? No charges?” one social media user commented.

"A lot of the commentary online is saying this man should never have attacked him, never mind, in the close confines of an aeroplane... but at the same time, what do you do if someone behind you is chirping?"
