If you are a fan of The Old Guard, you might be left disappointed by its sequel.

The Old Guard 2 is described as an emotional, adrenaline-pumping sequel, based on the world created by Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernandez.

Edmunds says the film fails to recapture the magic of the original.

The superhero action movie stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The synopsis reads: "Andy (Charlize Theron) and her team of immortal warriors are back, with a renewed sense of purpose in their mission to protect the world. With Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) still in exile after his betrayal, and Quynh (Veronica Ngô) out for revenge after escaping her underwater prison, Andy grapples with her newfound mortality as a mysterious threat emerges that could jeopardize everything she’s worked towards for thousands of years. Andy, Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), Nicky (Luca Marinelli) and James Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) enlist the help of Tuah (Henry Golding), an old friend who may provide the key to unlocking the mystery behind immortal existence."

Edmunds believes The Old Guard 2 misses an opportunity to explore the deeper emotional storylines that made the first film resonate with fans.

"The fight scenes and whatnot are one thing, but the first one had an interest in sort of the stories of these people who travel the world and have to find purpose when you have no end in sight. Here's a missed opportunity, so I was a little bit disappointed, sadly, in that it didn't live up to the first one."

"I am suspecting they are not going to get to make a third one, which is a shame, because the comic books are really good fun."

The Old Guard 2 is available on Netflix.
