KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi has made damning allegations against high-ranking police officials and politicians, including Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, and members of the judiciary.

He accuses them of aiding criminal syndicates, involving themselves in investigations and obstructing justice.

Cameron says Mkhwanazi’s briefing was shocking but he understands why he may have felt the need to take extreme measures to address this.

“It was unprecedented. We have never seen a media briefing like this in the country before, especially by a senior police leader.”
