Why you should book your December holiday in July

One of the main benefits of booking your December holiday now is that it's more budget-friendly.

Brondani says if you're booking in July for December or beyond, it means that you have a bit more time to spread out the costs.

"Usually, it's just your flight that you pay upfront, and maybe a little bit of a deposit if you are booking with a hotel or accommodation provider. And then you at least have a good few months between now and the rest of the year to pay off that holiday."

Paying also means you're committing to taking the holiday.

Another reason to book your December holiday in July is to get dibs on the best leave dates at work.

"December, we know most people like to take leave... booking early and getting your leave in allows you to get first dibs on your preferred travel dates... You are less likely to have your leave declined."

Booking early also means you're not getting the leftovers in terms of accommodation.

"For example, Club Med Mauritius: kids under 12 stay free in inter-connecting rooms. But to get those inter-connecting rooms, you do need to book early."

"It even increases your productivity. And also helps you endure the winter blues."
