WATCH: German backpacker survives 11 nights lost in Australian Outback

Carolina Wilga (26), a backpacker from Germany, has survived nearly two weeks lost in the harsh wilderness of Western Australia.

CCTV footage last captured Wilga outside a petrol station before she vanished, spending 11 freezing days and nights alone in the Outback. She stayed in her car initially, later telling police she feared she would never be found before deciding to set out on foot.

Police said Wilga survived by drinking from puddles, sleeping in a cave, and rationing the small amount of food she had packed.

Disoriented and confused after days of walking, she eventually stumbled onto a road and flagged down a passing motorist, who rescued her.

She was taken to the hospital, suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, extensive insect bites, and an injured foot.

“I just can't believe that she survived," a police officer said.

"... it's a real survivor story... something you shouldn't be doing alone... Australians know this..."
