Hip-hop-loving Pxshboy talks future dreams and new single 'Clear Your Mind'

Cape Town's Pxshboy (Tyler Wright) is just 24 and making waves on the local music scene with his genre-blending sound

Formerly known as YoungT, this singer and multi-instrumentalist is stepping into a new phase with a fresh name and big plans for the future. 

The muso got his first drum kit at just four years of age, saying his parents had no choice as they would have been sick of him drumming in any case on their pots and pans.

 As a youngster he went from listening to rock music, to developing a love for hip hop and R&B at around 13.

'I love it when a white dude gets into hip hop!', quips Sara-Jayne.

It was also at that age when attending a Justin Bieber concert, that he decided music was his future.

"I saw the way that his music impacted people and I knew, from that day, that's what I wanted to do."

Pxshboy describes his just-released new track Clear Your Mind as a single written about the emotional toll that a relationship between love and lifestyle will take on someone.

Pxshboy's plan, for now, is to release music more frequently in the form of singles, before tackling an album.

The ultimate aim is to eventually go international, he says.

"I want to impact as many people as I can with my music."

"Every song I make tells a story - whether you believe it or not, it's either an experience I've been through or someone close to me has been through. I want to take things step by step, and hopefully take them internationally one day."
