On Monday, 21 July, an altercation broke out aboard an AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to China, and footage of the incident is circulating widely on social media.
The video shows a tense moment escalating after a man seated behind three women reportedly confronted them for speaking loudly after the cabin lights had been dimmed.
According to reports, the women continued their conversation, prompting the frustrated passenger to snap and allegedly yell: “Shut up. Are you stupid? I want to sleep.”
The video filmed by another passenger shows one of the women lunging over her seat and repeatedly striking the man, who used his food tray in an attempt to shield himself.
Cabin crew members are seen frantically trying to break up the fight, with emergency lights flashing and an air hostess shouting “STOP!” during the scuffle.
Officials were reportedly waiting to question the individuals involved when the plane landed in Sichuan, China.
No arrests have been reported at the time this article was written.
