The premiere vehicle is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) that combines a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged combustion engine with an electric motor and battery pack.
The Velar is midsize, slotting in between Range Rover's Evoque and the Sport lineup.
It packs a punch, 0 to 1000km p/h in 5.4 seconds, and its hybrid battery’s capacity is good for just under 70km.
It also has a hybrid mode, whereby it runs on battery at low speeds and will seamlessly switch over to petrol power at higher speeds.
Fuel consumption sits at about 2.2L/100km and it also has great off-road capabilities, all in the safety of six airbags, says Ferguson.
“I think it is an urban invention, it’s for people who are going back and forwards and aren’t driving 200km a day.”

“It is a beautiful car… It has got all of this elegance… just more sleek, graceful, and gorgeous.”

The 2025 model sits at just over R2 million.
