Lotto operator Ithuba confirms that the R124,6 million Powerball jackpot from the draw held on 5 August 2025 has been claimed.

The winning ticket was purchased via a banking app with a R37.50 wager, and the numbers were manually selected.

The winner reported to Ithuba's Johannesburg officers on Monday afternoon (11 August).

She says she initially ignored the phone calls, thinking it was telemarketing spam.

“I kept seeing calls from an unfamiliar number… On Friday, I finally answered, and it was my bank advising me to report to the nearest ITHUBA office as I had won some money.”

With no idea of exactly how much she won, she went to Ithuba.

“I was told I had won the jackpot. I am still in shock."

The winner says this will change her and her family’s lives.

“My husband has been unemployed for a few years, so we’ve been living on one income; it’s been a tough, hand-to-mouth situation.”

She can also make her dream of owning a car come true.

“I wish my parents were still here; there’s so much I would have wanted to do for them. I will rebuild their house and restore it as our family home. My dream of owning a car will also finally come true."

"We are thrilled that the winner has come forward and deeply moved by how this life-changing jackpot will positively impact her and her family,” says Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza.
