Here's what's on in Cape Town this month.

Cape Town is springing into gees in September.

"The City’s Events Department is already gearing up for an even busier month in September, and a bustling summer season of events," said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

Here's what's on the lineup this month:

In addition to FAME Week Africa, currently taking place at various venues, Cape Town will be hosting a variety of events in September, including:

  • Open Book Festival: 5 – 7 September at the Homecoming Centre, District Six
  • Khayelitsha 10km Road Race: 7 September from Mandela Stadium
  • Western Province vs Boland Cavilliers: 6 September at the DHL Stadium
  • OUTsurance Gun Run: 13 – 14 September from the Green Point Precinct
  • Afrikaans is Groot: 20 September at the DHL Stadium
  • Chapman’s Peak Half Marathon: 21 September from Hout Bay Beach
  • WOMAD Cape Town: 22 – 28 September at various venues including the V&A Waterfront

More events to add to the calendar:

September will also see the returnof the United Rugby Championship, with the DHL Stormers taking on defending champions Leinster on 26 September at the DHL Stadium.

Then, on 18 October 2025, SAFA Cape Town will crown the 2025 Coke Cup champions at the country’s biggest amateur football tournament at Athlone Stadium.

On 19 October 2025, the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will be taking its final hurdle towards becoming Africa’s first Abbott World Marathon Major.

Just days later, on 25 and 26 October, the Speed Classic Cape Town will take over Philip Kgosana Drive for two days of speed, motorsport heritage and horsepower.

On 2 November, the Red Bull Flugtag will make a soaring return to the Mother City for the first time in over 13 years. Hosted at the V&A Waterfront, the event will bring a wildly entertaining spectacle of flight, fun, and fearless creativity.

The inaugural Surf Expo Africa, the continent's first all-ocean sports and beach lifestyle trade show, will finish off the November offerings with a gathering of passionate ocean sports enthusiasts and beach-goers from across the country.
