Gauteng top cop, Shadrack Sibiya, says he will not be drawn into the public space to comment on allegations of whether he is linked to criminal cartels, but will rather answer questions in a formal sitting.

Sibiya is expected before Parliament’s ad hoc committee next week; he will also testify at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

Both bodies are probing allegations of criminal and political interference within SAPS.

A task team pounced on Sibiya’s Centurion compound on Thursday, seizing cellphones and a laptop as part of an ongoing investigation into criminal syndicates in the province, who Sibiya is allegedly linked to.

On Thursday, Sibiya wouldn’t confirm nor deny his links to organised criminal syndicates when questioned by the media.

He claims he was waiting to provide evidence to both Parliament and the Madlanga Commission.

"My job is to investigate criminals. It’s my space. I’m not a priest; I don’t deal with Christians. I’m not a school principal - I’m a policeman and I have dealt with organised crime for many years; I’m almost 37 years in what I have been doing."

Sibiya will appear before Parliament’s ad hoc ommittee on Monday.
