Two suspected drug mules arrested at the Cape Town International Airport within 24 hours are expected to make a first appearance in the Bellville Magistrate's Court on Friday morning.
Acting on intelligence, authorities intercepted a 35-year-old man as he arrived from Doha on Wednesday.
The man was carrying about five kilograms of a substance suspected to be cocaine in his check-in luggage, worth more than R2 million.
Hawks spokesperson, Zinzi Hani, said that further surveillance was conducted and the courier, collecting the mule, was also identified and arrested.
"Both the accused will make their first appearance at the Bellville Magistrates Court on 10 October 2025."
In the second incident, an alleged drug mule was found with 183 bushes of Khat worth more than R10,000 packed in his suitcase.
Hani said that the 69-year-old man is believed to be exporting drugs out of South Africa to the United Arab Emirates.
