Court hears that Vusimuzi Matlala facing 11 attempted murder charges

Prosecutors arguing against the release of alleged crime boss Vusimuzi Matlala have told the court that he faces a total of 11 attempted murder charges for several hits he has called.
Matlala has approached the Johannesburg High Court to appeal the decision by the magistrate's court to deny him bail.

He’s accused of being the mastermind behind a botched hit on his socialite girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane, in 2023.
Matlala’s bail application is related to the 2023 hit on Thobejane, which left her friend paralysed and resulted in Thobejane fleeing abroad.
But prosecutors have made the court aware of all the other similar charges that Matlala faces.
They’ve argued that Matlala clearly has no regard for the law after he was found with a cellphone in his prison cell while incarcerated at Kgosi Mampuru.
Matlala will have to wait for a few days, as Judge Piet du Plessis promised to hand down a verdict by Friday or Monday.
