Authorities said road safety is a collective responsibility, calling on all road users to prioritise safety and help prevent accidents.

Motorists are also reminded to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and to stay alert for pedestrians.

Spokesperson Xolani Fihla said drivers should expect congestion on major routes.

“With a significant increase in traffic volumes expected on all major arterial routes - including the N1, N3, and N12 - we urge motorists to prioritise safety and exercise patience to ensure everyone reaches their destinations unharmed. High traffic volumes are anticipated at toll plazas and major interchanges. Avoid aggressive driving and keep a safe following distance.”
