702’s Relebogile Mabotja hosts Lungile Msipha, a young and aspiring newsreader.
Listen below:
The 21-year-old aspiring newsreader says she has wanted to pursue this career ever since she was a child, because she was enamoured with the female presenters on TV.
“I love women's empowerment, and I would see these ladies on TV who seem like they have it all together presenting the news. I have always been fascinated by it.”
- Lungile Msipha, aspiring newsreader
Initially, she was intimidated by the prospect of following this career, but her love for it drove her forward.
She also competes in pageants, which requires her to be well-informed.
“I said, 'Let me not just consume news. Let me report it'... I love reporting. I love for people to be informed, and I want to be the one informing them.”
- Lungile Msipha, aspiring newsreader
Lungile read, wrote and compiled her first-ever bulletin and did a fantastic job, as confirmed by her mentor of the day, Mongezi Koko.
The 702 team captured Msipha’s day in the life of a radio presenter for our social media accounts.
