The recalls span across seven major manufacturers and include issues such as faulty airbags, brake line problems, and defective seatbelt latches.
Here's a list of the affected vehicles:
- Jeep Wrangler
- Chrysler 300c
- Citroen C4, DS4, and DS5 models
- Mercedes-Benz CLA (118), S-Class (model series 223)
- Audi
- VW Polo Sedan
- Volvo XC90
A major source of the issue is reportedly linked to global supplier Takata, known for manufacturing airbags used across multiple car brands.
"Recalls are part and parcel of vehicle ownership, I suppose, and manufacturing, because when you mass produce anything, there is a chance that you'll have defects or problems with material or design and manufacturers do need to rectify it, especially in this case, a lot of it has safety issues."

The recall process is usually initiated by the manufacturer, who informs the local regulator.
Vehicle owners are then urged to check their VIN numbers online or contact dealers directly, regardless of warranty status.
While the process may feel like an inconvenience, Tucker says it’s ultimately a sign that the system is working.
He adds that it’s crucial for drivers to act quickly, as these issues can be life-threatening.
"Don’t wait...take it in."
