Rainy and cold weather is expected this week, which is 'to be expected with a classic Cape Town winter', notes Du Plessis.

"This week we're not looking at one major cold front like we had a few weeks back, but rather a series of smaller, weaker fronts just brushing over the Cape. It's really what you'd expect from a classic Cape Town winter. Some passing light showers and a bit of wind."

"With these systems moving through, the City and surrounding areas will see a few cooler days and some spotty light rain throughout the week. At times, it will be quite windy, especially along the coast where the weather service issued warnings for damaging waves and winds, so people along the coast should be on the lookout and be careful, but nothing extraordinary..."

"The biggest thing will be exceptionally cold areas of the Eastern Cape... over the interior of the Western Cape, parts of the Northern and Eastern Cape... Daytime temperatures will only be around 10°C."
