CoCT traffic department heightens deployment to ensure safety during Easter weekend

CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Department has heightened deployment on all major routes to ensure motorists are safe during the Easter long weekend.
The department said officers will be conducting speed checks and vehicle checkpoints over the long weekend.

Spokesperson Maxine Bezuidenhout added that pedestrian safety should also be prioritised to ensure that possible fatalities are avoided.
“For pedestrians, wear brightly coloured clothing, so you are visible to oncoming traffic, cross roads only where it is safe and permissible to do so, and please make sure that children are supervised at all times.”
Bezuidenhout reminded motorists to obey all road and traffic laws.
“Stick to the speed limit, keep a decent following distance, and take regular breaks to avoid fatigue. If you are impaired in any way, do not get behind the wheel.”
