The ANC has five days to hand over its cadre deployment records to the DA following a Constitutional Court ruling.

The governing party will now have to make public its complete cadre deployment records dating back to 1 January 2013.

The DA believes this could show the links between cadre deployment and corruption as we head towards the 2024 national elections.

“We are hoping to get to the heart of the cancer of cadre deployment which lies at the root of state capture.”
- Helen Zille, Democratic Alliance Federal Council Chairperson

Zille says that knowing what is in these records could reveal whether the ANC has subverted democracy to advance the interests of the party.

She adds that President Cyril Ramaphosa will not be able to deny knowledge of what has happened, as he was the chairperson of the cadre deployment committee.

According to Zille, this is also a victory for South Africa as it shows that certain democratic institutions are still working independently and as intended.

“If the ANC refuses to hand these over, or hands them over partially, they will be in contempt of court.”
