The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, the DA’s Andrew Whitfield, has been removed from his position.
It is not clear why he was removed, but the DA has announced they would be convening an urgent federal executive meeting.
This comes amid speculation that President Cyril Ramaphosa would be announcing a cabinet reshuffle.
However, Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya confirmed that no cabinet reshuffle is currently in the works.
Many were shocked that Ramaphosa did not announce the removal of the controversial Minister of Higher Education, Nobuhle Nkabane.
Madia says the president would be reluctant to do a reshuffle before the G20 summit.
“They are trying to protect the integrity of the G20.”
