Eight days left for Capetonians to complete City's domestic animal survey

Over 13 000 pet owners have participated in the survey which was launched almost five weeks ago. It aims to gather data on Cape Town’s pet population to help with planning and interventions around animal welfare.

With only eight days left, Capetonians are encouraged to complete the survey if they haven’t done so already. The deadline for the survey is 30 April.

It asks a range of questions, from the number of pets to their vaccination and sterilisation status. Owners are also asked about the type of animal healthcare accessed in times of need.

Complete the survey online here: https://bit.ly/4bPScdI.

Apart from the online option, the City has also deployed teams of field workers to engage residents directly.

They will carry identification cards when visiting properties. If necessary, residents can contact the City’s Customer Call Centre on 0860 103 089 to verify a staff member’s credentials.

"We're trying very hard to improve the quality of life of everybody in our city. If we do not have a healthy animal population, that affects the human population. So it's important that we get better data so we can speak to provincial and national government about proper funding for our animal welfare organisations which do great work for all the pet lovers and animal owners across the city. So, if you haven’t done so already, please get online and help us in this very important cause by completing the survey."
