‘Health starts on your plate’: Wellness tips from a holistic health coach

Cape Town-based French chef and sommelier Marc Frederich was facing severe burnout from the restaurant industry... so he decided to make a change and focus on nutrition and holistic health coaching.
He recently launched two wellness programmes and a recipe e-book store. His goal is to help South Africans eat well and live better.

Frederich says he works with numerous medical practitioners to ensure that his advice is tailored to your health needs.
His first piece advice for everyone is to try and ‘eat a rainbow,’ when dishing up your food. This means having food items in a variety of natural colours.

On every plate he says it should be 25% protein, 25% carbs and 50% salad and vegetables.

He also encourages people to try a Mediterranean diet, which involves a lot of fish, poultry and plant-based food, while limiting red meat and processed food.
He adds that there is no quick fix or single diet that works for everyone, and if you want to live a healthier life your need to change your habits.
