Highlands Park FC’s possible return to the PSL may be in jeopardy following news that their Nigerian player, Chigamezu Franklin Ogbonna, has reportedly been using fraudulent visa documents.
The team has been participating in the ABC Motsepe League, where the South African Football Association rules permit foreign players, provided they hold valid visa documentation.
This places the club at risk of losing crucial points, threatening its league title and promotion to the PSL.
“When a foreign player is playing in the ABC Motsepe League, before the game the passport must be given to the match officials. In this guy’s case, they would not give the passport... because the documents are fraudulent.”

“The feeling is that someone at SAFA would have gone through these documents and said they were ok, and approved that the registration should go on.”
