Hot off Kaizer Chiefs’ Nedbank Cup victory over Orlando Pirates, the rumour mill went into a tailspin with talk of Nabi’s departure.

Reports indicated that, despite Nabi signing a two-year contract with AmaKhosi, he would be leaving at the end of the season.

He says he is ‘very surprised’ about these rumours, but remains focused on the club’s remaining PSL games.

The club has two games remaining in its bid to finish within the top eight.

“I am very surprised about these rumours. I am very concentrated on the remaining two games that are coming up… We need to play these games with a final attitude and a final spirit because it is very important for the top eight.”

“I don’t want to lose the momentum that the cup has created. I still have a contract, and I am not worried about that. Kaizer Chiefs now is my family.”

Nabi ended Chiefs’ decade-long cup drought with a 2–1 win over Pirates in Durban over the weekend.

“To join my name to this club, it is a very big moment for me. To be able to achieve what we achieved on Saturday, it’s a very big, proud moment for me and the club.”
