From 4 to 13 July 2025, South Africa’s favourite winter festival is back and better than ever!
The Knysna Oyster Festival is back
The 42nd annual Knysna Oyster Festival is ready to roll out the shuckers, lace up the running shoes, and pump up those bike tyres—because this year, “It’s time to come out of your shell!”
The new theme celebrates the iconic oyster that gave the festival its name—and the much-anticipated return of the Oyster Cooking Competition, where local chefs will battle it out to turn the humble mollusc into mouthwatering magic. Whether you like them grilled, baked, spiced or au naturel, this is the year to get your oyster fix.
But the festival isn’t just about seafood. It’s 10 jam-packed days of sport, lifestyle, food, drink, and good times for the whole family. From markets and music to kids’ activities, art exhibitions and wine tastings, there’s something in the programme for everyone. So, pack your bags and head to Knysna this July!
As always, the festival kicks off with a bang—the Knysna Forest Marathon sets the pace on the first weekend (4 July). If you're hoping to run the half marathon, you’ll have to cheer from the sidelines—those tickets are sold out! But don’t despair—there are still a few spots left in the full marathon, so grab yours now!
The festival wraps up with wheels spinning and hearts racing at the Knysna Cycle Tour (12–13 July), the ultimate celebration of endurance, scenery and local spirit.
