From dogs barking to lawnmowers and screaming matches, some neighbourhoods never have any peace.

“The one time my gardener couldn’t come on a Saturday. I was like, just come through on Sunday… he must have been 10 minutes into this and I had two neighbours at my gate… the rules in this estate are no gardening - no, nothing on a Sunday.”

Fortunately, there are clear steps for residents to take to report noise complaints.

In some cases, approaching the source of the noise can resolve the issue clearly.

Approach your neighbour and see if you can find a way forward.

If it persists, residents can file complaints with the City of Johannesburg Customer Service Centre.

In some extreme circumstances and after hours, you can call JMPD on 011 375 5911.
