THEATRE:
If you are looking to take a trip to the theatre this month, there is no shortage of options.
Robyn Cohen of The Cape Robyn website shares some of the productions to look out for across the Cape.
At Theatre Arts in Observatory, The Zoo Story is running from 10-13 April, Earthside from 14-17 April, and Two Lovers, which is also on at the Drama Factory.
On to Theatre on Bay, Black Coffee is running until 29 April.
At The Baxter Theatre, Kafka’s Ape is running until 13 April, The Fire Eaters runs from 9-19 April, and Mrs Mitchell Comes to Town is showing from 22 April.
Galloway Theatre will be showing Darwin - A Curious Mind from 7-13 April.
Finally, Artscape will show Suidoosterfees and Please Don’t Call Me Moffie this month.
MOVIES:
In the world of movies there are a number of new releases on the circuit.
The biggest release of the weekend is Minecraft, starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa. Based on the popular video game, the film tells the story of four misfits who are pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination
If you want something a bit more serious, a thriller starring Anthony Hopkins and Bill Skarsgård called Locked is also out this weekend. It’s about a young, flippant carjacker who is trapped in a heavily modified car by a mysterious sociopath.
TV:
If a weekend at home is more your speed, there are plenty of great things to watch on the small screen.
Tonight (Friday 4 April) you can enjoy Bikeriders on Mnet at 9pm - starring Jodie Comer from Killing Eve, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy. This is a story about a man torn between loyalty to his girlfriend and his motorcycle club.
On Saturday, Etv has Unstoppable, an action film about a runaway train loaded with toxic cargo. Chris Pine and Denzel Washington must work together to stop it before it smashes into a heavily populated area.
The Sunday night movie on Mnet is Venom – The Last Dance. It’s the third and final instalment in the Venom series and stars Tom Hardy and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
As for series, Mnet will be premiering the new documentary series called The Americas on Sunday at 6pm. Narrated by Tom Hanks and scored by Hans Zimmer, it is the perfect way for nature lovers to wind down this weekend.
BBC Lifestyle channel 174 has a new wedding show also starting on Sunday, at 9:15pm. My Big Day: Home or Away, features two top wedding planners who plan elaborate destination weddings for clients all over the world.

In the week ahead there are a number of new shows to get excited about.
Starting on Showmax, the 6th and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale starts on Wednesday. Elisabeth Moss returns as the defiant June who continues to fight to bring down Gilead, even in the face of great personal loss and hardship.
You can also start binging season 2 of Tulsa King from today, which tells the story of former mob boss Dwight Manfredi who has to start a new life in Oklahoma after his release from prison. Sylvester Stallone plays the lead in his first major TV role.
On the local side, season 2 of Reyka starts on Tuesday. Kim Engelbrecht is back as the criminal profiler investigating a series of attacks in Durban Harbour.

On Thursday 10 April the hit sci-fi show Black Mirror is back with 6 brand new episodes.
You can also keep an eye out for a new medical series called Pulse, about young doctors working in a Miami emergency room, which is available to view now.
For a comedy, North of North starts Thursday. It's a Canadian comedy about a newly single young mom who tries to build a new life for herself in a tiny village far inside the Arctic Circle.
Apple TV:
Sports fans can look forward to the Monday release of Boom Boom – The World vs Boris Becker. It’s an inside look at the controversial life and career of tennis great Boris Becker, featuring interviews with John McEnroe, Novak Djokovic, Björn Borg, and other icons.
For some drama, the new series Sugar releases on Saturday. Colin Farrell stars as an America private investigator looking into the disappearance of a Hollywood icon’s beloved granddaughter.
