JOHANNESBURG - Lawyers representing murder-accused Katiso "KT" Molefe have accused the State of distorting facts to influence the mind of the court, which must make a decision on his bail application.

Molefe returned to the Alexandra Magistrate's Court on Thursday for his bail hearing.

He’s accused of orchestrating the murders of two popular musicians, DJs Sumbody and DJ Vintos.

In an affidavit, the investigating officer working on the case against Molefe told the court that he had travelled to the United Kingdom (UK) as recently as 2024, showing that he had business interests abroad.

But that was flagged by Molefe’s lawyer, Adv Michael Hellens, who disputed this.

The State conceded that it was a mistake on its part and that Molefe had not travelled to the UK.

But investigators still insist Molefe is a flight risk after he travelled to the UK with a bogus passport in 2004, where he was busted for dealing in cannabis.

The court will hand down a decision on Molefe’s bail next week.
