Netball South Africa (NSA) was grilled before Parliament on Tuesday (22 April), where it failed to submit detailed financial reports for 2023/2024.

This includes accounting for the R90 million allocated for hosting the 2023 Netball World Cup.

Just last week, the federation’s president, Cecilia Molokwane, was suspended for 14 days by World Netball.

“Even the blind can see that there is trouble within Netball South Africa... [NSA] is in a complete mess. It is an embarrassment..."
– Joseph McGluwa, Chairperson – Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture
“There are no audited financial statements… We need answers as to what has transpired and how the money has been utilised… Why did it take so long to complete a report from 2023?”
– Joseph McGluwa, Chairperson – Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture
“It’s such an embarrassment to articulate the state and affairs of sport in South Africa, but we have to do this.”
– Joseph McGluwa, Chairperson – Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture

The federation has 14 days from the date of the sitting to present updated and detailed status reports to Parliament.
