ChatGPT just got smarter.

OpenAI launches GPT-5, its 'most advanced language model to date'

OpenAI unveiled GPT-5 on Thursday, 7 August, marking the debut of its 'most advanced language model to date' with 'thinking built in'.

The company describes GPT-5 as its 'smartest, fastest, and most useful model yet', with significant upgrades in areas like coding, mathematics, writing, and health-related inquiries.

Designed to enhance the capabilities of ChatGPT, GPT-5 is also engineered to reduce hallucinations, instances where AI produces inaccurate or misleading information, and deliver faster, more accurate responses than its predecessors.

The rollout of GPT-5 began Thursday for ChatGPT users on the Free, Plus, Pro, and Team plans, with access expanding to Enterprise and Education users next week.

Positioned as OpenAI’s flagship model, GPT-5 enters a highly competitive space, going head-to-head with top-tier offerings like xAI’s Grok 4, Google’s Gemini 2.5, and Anthropic’s Claude 4, as OpenAI’s valuation reportedly approaches $500 billion.
