It's been a tough time for animal welfare organisations like the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, as they scour the burnt landscape for animals injured during the past week's devastating fires in Table Mountain National Park.
However, despite the suffering they have to deal with, they draw strength from every rescued life, the Cape SPCA reports in a Facebook post.
On Day 3 of their taxing mission there was a special reason for celebration - a beloved dog that rescuers had been searching for and the community keeping an eye out for, was located.
Holly, a dachshund-staffie, initially went missing on Silvermine near the MTB parking area on Sunday morning.
She was returned safely home three days later after her owner's son responded to a sighting at Cape Point Vineyards and was finally able to catch her.
'We’re beyond grateful that she's home' said the SPCA.
"This work can break us sometimes - but today we celebrate in spite of it. The fire took so much, but today it gave us a beautiful reunion!"

Both the SPCA and the Animal Welfare Society of SA offered to give the little pooch a full veterinary check.
The Welfare Society reports that Holly is in excellent health despite her ordeal, and its hospital team wasted no time 'in showering her with love and care'.
"All her vitals were checked, x-rays taken, and full blood tests conducted - everything came back clear. Remarkably, despite the vast area of mountain that was burned, Holly was completely untouched."
