Legendary singer Connie Francis has passed away at the age of 87.
She was hospitalised and admitted to an intensive care unit and was forced to pull out of her planned 4 July Independence Day show.
The beloved country and pop icon, originally from New Jersey, rose to fame in the late 1950s and quickly became a household name. In 1960, she made history as the first woman to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with her hit song Everybody's Somebody's Fool.
In recent years, Francis experienced a resurgence in popularity among younger audiences, thanks to TikTok. Francis' 1960s classic Pretty Little Baby became a viral sensation as users across the platform embraced the song in lip-syncs and trending videos.
Pretty Little Baby has been streamed more than 74.8 million times on Spotify.
