Process underway to extradite suspects in Eswatini linked to AKA, Tibz murder - Ntshavheni

JOHANNESBURG - Government says it is in the process of filing an extradition request to Eswatini to bring back two suspects arrested in that country for the double murder of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and celebrity chef Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.

Forbes and Motsoane were gunned down outside a popular restaurant along Durban’s Florida Road in February 2023.

It’s alleged that a hit was ordered on the 35-year-old musician, while his former manager Motsoane was caught in the crossfire.

A total of seven suspects were arrested in connection with the crime, with five having already made their first court appearance in Durban on Thursday morning.

The sixth and seventh suspects are believed to have fled to neighbouring Eswatini where they were later arrested.

Speaking at a post-cabinet briefing in Pretoria on Thursday, Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni confirmed that South African authorities were already busy with the paperwork.

“We all know that it’s an intricate process and the police will work with the Department of Justice to ensure a successful extradition. We appreciate the cooperation of the Police Service of Eswatini for arresting the suspects within their borders.”
