R600 million GrandWest Mall is coming to Cape Town, delivering a 'convenient' shopping experience

Flanagan & Gerard Group, in partnership with Sun International, are developing the 22,000 square meter shopping centre.

R600 million GrandWest Mall is coming to Cape Town, delivering a 'convenient' shopping experience

The new GrandWest Mall will feature two grocers, two pharmacies, and an array of specialist food retailers with fashion, health, beauty and athleisure retail options.

The mall will be a subdivision of GrandWest and will be adjacent to the Spur and 'fort area'.

Building is set to commence soon, says Holley.

Holley explains there is an appetite for retail in South Africa because "people are social beings" and says the mall is "going to be the best, safe, convenient shop you'll have".

"Fundamentally, people are social beings and I think equally within South Africa, there is a movement to online but all the retailers you chat to will say that it's omni-channel, you have to have a strong presence physically, online, etc..."
- John Holley, Director - Flanagan & Gerard
"You've still got the concerts happening, skating rink, and the gaming is a huge success and essentially that's why our partnership with Sun International has been very successful. What we focus on is dominant and niche community centers, easy access, safe access so really, your shopper who is going there for a one-stop-shop, that offering is complimented by that weekend entertainment."
- John Holley, Director - Flanagan & Gerard
"GrandWest is still the strongest entertainment offering in the Western Cape and so it's a no-brainer that we can feed off that energy and compliment it."
