Ramaphosa to deliver eulogy at Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa’s funeral

President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to deliver the eulogy at Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa’s funeral in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday.
Ramaphosa has granted the former police minister a special official funeral – category 2.
Mthethwa will be laid to rest in his rural hometown of KwaMbonambi in northern KZN.
He died in Paris last week while serving as South Africa’s ambassador to France and Monaco.

It was Ramaphosa who assigned Mthethwa to the role back in December 2023.
The proceedings at the special official funeral category 2 will encompass ceremonials by the South African Police Service, such as the draping of his coffin with the South African flag.
The coffin will be ushered inside the funeral venue by officers accompanied by the police band.
During the eulogy, Ramaphosa is expected to take South Africans through the life of the ambassador and the role he played in the execution of his duties abroad.
