SA’s only driver’s license printer breaks down again: ‘We sit here suffering the brunt’

The country’s only driver’s license printer is once again out of commission.
The decades-old machine reportedly broke down in February 2025, resulting in significant backlogs nationwide.
In a letter to Transport Minister Barbara Creecy, OUTA called for urgent reforms, including the introduction of a 10-year validity period and a shift to digital.

The tender process for procuring a new machine has come under scrutiny due to alleged irregularities.
