According to the South African Weather Service, a cold front is making landfall with some parts of South Africa experiencing snow, damaging winds and waves.

The weather service issued a Yellow Level 2 Warning for light to moderate weather conditions with damaging winds and waves, expected over the southern high ground of the Northern Cape and areas along the coast for the Western Cape.

Mountain peaks and high-lying areas in the Eastern Cape could see snowfall, damaging winds and waves by Wednesday.

KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) is among the provinces set to experience a sharp drop in temperatures.

Heavy rains and potentially hazardous weather conditions are expected, particularly in Alexander Bay, North West and Kosi Bay.

Residents living in high-risk areas are advised to prepare for potential disruptions.

These may include slippery roads, localised flooding, and power outages.

Authorities recommend securing outdoor items, ensuring vulnerable family members are kept warm, and avoiding unnecessary travel during peak weather conditions.
