The Premier Soccer League this week unveiled the nominees for this year’s end-of-season awards.
Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Lucas Ribeiro, Orlando Pirates’ youngster Relebohile Mofokeng and Sekhukhune United midfielder Keletso Makgalwa go head-to-head for the PSL Footballer of the Season and Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season awards.
Ribeiro has also been nominated for the Betway Premiership Goal of the Season.
Mofokeng is up for the Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season, Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament and MTN8 Last Man Standing.
“[Ribeiro’s] overall stats this season… his goal contributions… he scored 16 in the league but he's also made nine assists. Twenty-five goal contributions are phenomenal. He is making a goal contribution every 85 minutes, but he is also a team player.”
– Yusuf Kaka Muhammad, Kaizer Chiefs club historian
Nominees for Coach of the Season are Steve Barker (Stellenbosch FC), Miguel Cardoso (Mamelodi Sundowns) and Jose Riveiro (Orlando Pirates).
“Cardoso… he won the league and did so convincingly in a record-breaking fashion.”
– Opta Jabu, senior football researcher – SuperSport
The awards ceremony will take place on 29 July 2025 at 7pm, live on SuperSport PSL Channel (202 on DStv).
