From regular community patrols to their recent 15-kilometre solidarity run from Simonstown to Scarborough, TBOM continues these types of initiatives to reclaim the mountain through collective action.

Osman explains that TBOM is a growing grassroots movement working to restore safety on Cape Town’s Table Mountain trails.

Born out of concern over rising attacks, especially against women, TBOM uses group hikes and runs to promote visibility and deter crime.

Osman explains what members of TBOM think should be done to increase safety:

"I think they should increase the number of boots on the ground. They should increase technology... It's a tourist hub, one of the seven wonders of the world, but every year we're sitting with the same problem... in the same spots, same parking lots, cars are targeted, the same trails are targeted year in and year out... We feel that they [Table Mountain National Park] need to do much more..."

Osman also responds to the 'budget issues', which have been the reported reason for a lack of safety and security on Table Mountain.

"We are aware that they do not have sufficient resources... we feel that the budget of Table Mountain National Park is enough to sustain it, but what they are doing is they are spreading the budget across 21 national parks and they're putting a strain on Table Mountain."
