WATCH: John Maytham sees Beyoncé live in London: 'I was crying. It was beautiful'

Maytham is enjoying London, living his best life.

Why? To see Beyoncé in concert (and to watch South Africa take on Australia at Lord's... but we'll get there)

If you didn't know, Maytham is an official member of the BeyHive, and for this week only, we're dubbing Maytham, BeJOHNcé!

Check him out... all smiles.

It's the 'fit' change for us...

Maytham saw Queen B in action last night (Tuesday, 10 June) and couldn't wait to tell Kiewit about his electrifying experience.

With a very coarse voice (because of all that shouting, cheering and singing along), BeJOHNcé put his experience like this:

"My ears are still ringing, my soul is still singing, my feet are still stinging, my costume ain't so blinging anymore..."

Maytham says the concert lasted three hours, and throughout the time, Beyoncé kept the energy up while making it feel 'intimate' for every single person in the stadium.

"Even though you're in a stadium with 60,000 plus people, every single person in that stadium, including this 70-year-old white man, felt intimately connected with her... It was as if she was singing to just me. She never loses control, never loses poise."

Maytham explains how in awe he was of the 'megastar's' night of entertainment.

"It was three hours of mad, awesome, power and control... she is a megastar... she is whatever the next category is above megastar... what an experience."
- John Maytham, Afternoon Drive Host - CapeTalk
"Beyoncé is one of the mega-cultural figures of our time. She's unbelievably influential. That concert last night was political in a really interesting way... when she does the 'Star-Spangled Banner'... the images that are shown on the screen behind her all reflect the Civil Rights Struggle, they reflect the difficulty that Black people have had in making a home for themselves in America, they reflect the Black musicians and Black artists who've made a contribution to that struggle..."
- John Maytham, Afternoon Drive Host - CapeTalk
"... and throughout the programme... what you see on the screen are political statements not in your face, but culturally relevant... 'This is who I am, this is where I come from...' She doesn't use Donald Trump's name at any stage... doesn't even hint at Republican, MAGA, any of that stuff. But her attitude is clear, the world in which I live as an American has gone crazy and as an artist, I am reclaiming a safe and beautiful space for myself and the people who love me."

Yes, BeJOHNcé shed a tear for one special moment.

"When she does something like bring her six-year-old daughter Rumi on stage and sings 'Protector' to her, in other hands, it could be icky, you know the very famous mother and the six-year-old child but it's done with such compassion and such obvious love and such joy and such grace that like Rumi on stage and everybody around me, I was crying... it was beautiful."
