WATCH: Man lucky to be alive after container ship misses his house by metres

A Norwegian man slept through the moment when a container ship grounded just metres from his wooden house.

Friedman says after the incident which took place at 5 am local time, one of Johan Helberg's neighbours came knocking on his door to inform him of the vessel in his garden. But, he slept through that too. However, he eventually got up.

"He opened the door, and the man said to him, 'Listen, have you not seen the ship in your yard?' And he walked outside, and it is a remarkable video, it's a 135-metre-long ship."

Authorities say the matter is under investigation, and when the tide comes in, they'll manage to push the ship back out.
