South Africa’s only privately-owned international airport, Lanseria, may be set for a name change.

Johannesburg Executive Mayor Dada Morero confirmed the development in his State of the City Address.

So, what should the name be? And should it be named after someone who is alive or has already passed away?

Here’s what the team and 947’s listeners had to say…

“It should be named something like Pienaar-Smith-Kolisi… those are the three World Cup-winning captains.”
– Cindy Poluta, Anele and The Club
“There’s lots of land there… I was thinking Rooibos International.”
– Mantsoe Pout
Who is using that airport a lot? Private jets… who’s flying lots of jets? Black Coffee. Black Coffee International Airport, Trevor Noah International Airport?”
– Frankie Du Toit
“What about if we stop naming it after people, but what if we name it after something historic?... That side of town is known for being the Cradle of Humankind, so what about the Cradle International Airport?”
– 947 Listener
“It’s obvious… MIA, Musk International Airport.”
– 947 Listener
“I think Dr Sooliman (CEO of Gift of the Givers) would be a safer option because I don’t see that guy doing any wrong.”
– 947 Listener
