A volcano in far eastern Russian erupted for the first time in over 500 years.
The Krasheninnikov Volcano threw up ash plumes six kilometres high overnight.
While there was no threat to populated areas, a large earthquake in Russia was recorded hours later which led to further tsunami warning in three areas of the peninsula.
