Springbok star Jaden Hendrikse is still making headlines after the Sharks' dramatic penalty shootout win over Munster on Saturday, 31 May, at Kings Park in Durban.
The URC quarter-final was a tense clash that ended in a 24-24 deadlock, leading to extra time and the first penalty shootout for the URC, which took the rugby game to 100 minutes before the Sharks claimed victory.
For the Sharks, kickers Jaden Hendrikse, his brother Jordan, and Bradley Davids stepped up. Munster's kickers were Jack Crowley, Conor Murray, and Rory Scannell.
The Sharks were perfect, landing all six kicks. Munster’s hopes ended when Scannell missed one of his penalty shootouts.
But the shootout wasn’t without controversy, and Hendrikse was quite literally in the middle of it.
After his second successful kick, Hendrikse went down on the field, saying he had a cramp. While being treated by team physios, the game was delayed, and Crowley, who had to kick from the same spot next, was forced to wait.
TV cameras caught Hendrikse winking at a frustrated Crowley before kicking. Crowley then angrily told a Sharks staff member to 'f*** off' as they left the field.
The moment has divided fans. Some say it was dirty play, others thought it was funny, and many felt it wasn’t behaviour fitting of a Springbok.

"There's no question, he gave a very cheeky wink, but the Irish side was very angry and everyone is going, 'Well, you dish it out, but you can't take it.' I mean, isn't that true of all sports? I've seen pictures of his cramped calf, and it looks like one hell of a cramp, and even if he did have a cramp, he winked... and that's really the issue. You be the judge."
