WATCH: TikToker shares why he loves making tinned fish videos with his dog Arthur

From sardines in olive oil to smoked oysters in brine, UK-based TikToker Marcus Ansell (and his dog) are hooked — not just on seafood, but on the joys of cracking open a perfectly packed tin.

Ansell, who is from Nottinghamshire, spends his free time reviewing all different types of fish (like sardines and mackerel) with his dog Arthur on TikTok, which started in 2024.

The pair will sit down together in their custom-made shirts and review different types of tinned fish, sharing the food.

His TikTok channel brings thousands of curious viewers who come for the reviews and stay for the passion and Ansell's unique personality.

Ansell (who sometimes features in a red fez for fun and coolness) has tried over 70 different tinned fish types, so far.

As his videos went viral, Ansell began gaining popularity, doing media appearances, and now sells merch for fellow tinned-fish lovers and watchers of his channel.

Ansell explains where his love for tinned fish comes from...

"Tinned fish is really good on its own, it's so delicious... it's not always a cheap thing to buy, sometimes they're a really gourmet thing to eat."

South African brand Glenryck Pilchards on buttered toast is one of Ansell's favourite tinned fish, which he didn't know was a lekker local option until now!

And no, Ansell says he doesn't get bored of eating tinned fish because "there are so many variants."

"You can switch to different types of fish and if you get bored of them, you can switch to different types of sauces, oils and flavours... it's all amazing, there's a whole world out there of them."
