Kfm 94.5's Carl Wastie speaks to you, Kfm fam, to find out what dads DON'T want for Father's Day.
Listen below:
Yes, Father's Day is on Sunday 15 June.
Other than blasting that iconic 'Daddy, Oh Daddy' song by Fleetwood Mac over a specially made breakfast - a thoughtful gift is typically paired with the day reserved for celebrating dads.
If you're a last minute gift purchaser, welcome, we're here for you and this is for you!
In a little feature on Carl's show called, 'wrong answers only' - The Flash Drive team asked listeners: 'what do dads really want for Father's Day?'
BUT...
Because this is 'wrong answers only' - the answers were actually things dads DID NOT want for Father's Day. Why? Because these are mainly and typically recurring gifts that dads get for Father's Day EVERY year.
So, indirectly, dads were hinting about items that should be placed on the 'thank you, next' (AKA we just have too much of it now) pile.
Still with us? Great.
Let's get to the main items dads do not want, according to dads listening to Kfm:
- THAT mug saying, 'Best Dad Ever'.
- Socks - of any kind.
- Tools... even though you've never seen your dad with a tool or fix anything in his life.
- 'Your gift is on the way' coupons... but the gift never arrives (shame).
- Braai pack or any braai-related item, especially if the dad in question is not a braai master.
- Onnies/underwear.
- Sports memorabilia like a rugby t-shirt or soccer jersey that's not from the team they support.
Of course it IS the thought that counts, so go ahead and get whatever you'd like anyway - as long as it's given, bought, made, and shared with love.
Happy Father's Day for Sunday, dads - keep doing your best and showing up!
