Police in India have made an arrest in connection with the death of Fauja Singh, the world’s oldest marathon runner.

According to police, the accused was speeding when he struck the 114-year-old British-Indian runner in Punjab on Monday (14 July).

Singh suffered critical injuries and died shortly after being taken to the hospital.

“He was still fit as a flea, walking around… he was dexterous, agile and alert.”
