Mister Supranational is looking for the best men in SA
Sara-Jayne Makwala King speaks to former Miss SA Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala, Anton Mostert, project manager at Mister Supranational SA about this year’s about competition.
If you're an attractive male with self-confidence, intelligence and charisma, then get ready for some grit and glamour. The Mister Supranational South Africa 2024 competition returns this year.
The competition gives South African gentlemen between the ages of 20 and 34 the chance not only to begiving crowned national winner but also to compete on the world stage stage against competitors from 36 other countries for the ultimate title of Mister Supranational.
The competition aims to “discover new talent for the modeling and television industries and to produce instant celebrities”.
But if you want to be in it to win it, you better be quick because entries close tomorrow at 11pm.
Mister Supranational South Africa project manager Anton Mostert said organisers made a decision to continue the competition this year, following the death of well-known South African pagaent producer Wayne Stafford.
Stafford was a mentor to contestants and played a huge role in pageantry locally and internationally.
"Last year's pageant was brilliant...it was probably one of the best male pageants produced in SA. We decided to do it again this year. Then shockingly, Wayne passed away in November and that brought everything to a halt. We didn't know which way forward. We met up with his friends and made a decision to do it as a tribute to him and to finish what he's started."

This year's competition will see a change in format. Due to time constraints and the international competitions starting in June, organisers don't have the capacity to have a full event. Organisers will produce an online-virtual event.
"This is a benefit to the contestants as they can do it in the comfort of their own home. They save money and don't have to travel to events. It's a format of eight episodes that will be live streamed internationally. Only the final three will have an in-person event at a small crowning ceremony."

Being Mister Supranational SA is more than just about good looks, it's about the entire package, says former Miss SA Bokang Montjane Tshabalala, one of the judges last year.
"We're looking for dynamic young men, someone that can be a leader. Judging Mister Supranational SA last year, opened my eyes to the challenges young men are facing and the lack of male role-models. So we want to create positive role-models for young boys and men."
-Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala, former Miss SA
"So that's exactly what Mister Supranational SA is. A man that realizes what those challenges are and has the power to come up with a solutions to make a change in his community."
